February to July is generally the best time for safaris in Yala, during the drier months when wildlife gathers around waterholes and leopard sightings are most likely. Early morning and late afternoon game drives offer the best chances.
Getting there
About 5 hours by private car from Colombo, or roughly 2.5 to 3 hours from Galle and the south coast. Adhi can build Yala into a wider south-coast and hill-country route.

How long is a Yala safari and when should you go?
A typical game drive is a half day, either an early morning or late afternoon, when wildlife is most active. Some travellers do a full day with both drives. Game drives start before dawn, so an early start is part of the experience. Adhi gets you to the gate for first light.
